Questions from parents
Everything you need to know before your child's first bounce, from ages and coaches to payments and what to bring.
Getting started
From the age of 5 until the age of 16. There are specialised boys-only and girls-only sessions for Under 14s. We are happy to extend the age range if there is genuine interest.
Yes. A free trial session is the best way to see whether BeeSports is right for you and your child. Many children need more than one session to settle in and may only join a few activities at first. Our coaches will always encourage them to take part.
Please arrive about 5 minutes before the start of the class. This gives the coaching team time to get to know you and your child (younger children will usually be hiding behind your leg!) and to introduce them gradually. Your child then joins the activities with the rest of the class.
We are basketball coaching specialists, working with children from age 5 to 16. We combine skill learning with match play, and we welcome every ability and gender, including complete beginners.
We keep things simple: book a free taster session and come along to try it. After the taster we review and get in touch about a place for your child (some centres have a waiting list). We keep in touch by email and SMS throughout.
Sessions & coaching
All of our coaches are DBS checked and extremely passionate about what they do. We aim to have coaches trained in technical coaching, child behaviour management, child psychology and safeguarding.
Sessions last about 40 minutes for most groups, and 50 minutes for Gamers and Ballers. You can find the exact timings on each development centre's page.
No, sessions carry on through half-term and the summer holidays so children stay active all year round. We will tell you by email or SMS about any planned or last-minute changes.
A BeeSports training vest is included in the initial membership set-up fee, though your child doesn't have to wear it every time. Comfortable clothing they can move in is all they need, and shoes must be worn at all times for health and safety. Please bring a drink, and sun protection in the summer months as we sometimes use outdoor space.
Payments & absences
Payment is by bank transfer only, and we strongly recommend setting up a standing order for regular payments. Bank details and your payment reference are provided when your place is confirmed.
Your child's subscription reserves their place every week. Because venue and coaching costs are the same regardless of attendance, we can't refund or add on missed classes. If you will be away for two or more weeks, email us and we can adjust your payment plan in advance, up to 3 times a year. See our Terms and Conditions for more information.
